Kelowna's Century 21 raises $30K for charity with poker tournament

Poker event creates big pot

Kelowna’s Century 21 Assurance Realty got together with friends for the first time in three years and raised a bunch of money for Easter Seals.

The ninth annual Texas Hold ’Em Charity Poker Tournament, hosted by Century 21 Assurance Realty, returned last month after a three-year hiatus. More than 100 poker players turned out and raised $30,000 for Easter Seals Camp Winfield, which provides an overnight summer camping experience for children, youth and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities in Lake Country.

“These camps are so important to the development of kids and adults with disabilities,” Assurance Realty co-owner Anna Carbone said in a press release. “It puts a smile on their faces and ours. We are so proud to be part of a community like Easter Seals that supports people with disabilities and gives them an opportunity to explore and learn new skills in a fun camp environment.”

Assurance Realty has raised more than $375,000 in support of Easter Seals through local philanthropic events that help raise awareness of Camp Winfield.

“This annual fundraiser helps us raise vital funds needed to run our programs, and we are so grateful to Anna and her team who focus their fundraising efforts towards Easter Seals,” Easter Seals BC/Yukon president and CEO Lisa Beck said.
