Music video a long time coming for trio in Kelowna

Trio finally makes video

A three-person band formed through the pandemic called The Bl3nd got together for the very first time at the Porsche Centre in Kelowna to shoot a music video ahead of their first tour.

“This is a great launching board for us because as much as we can do a lot of work online and do a lot of logistics that way, to be physically in the same space has a totally different energy, and being able to share that energy with each other is really going to propel us forward from here on out,” said OSO performer Jeff Faragher.

The pandemic was difficult for most, but through the long days of lockdown, this trio of musicians was able to create something they may have never thought possible before COVID.

“In COVID, you’re in a box pretty much… so you start looking for what I can do in this box. Then you realize you’re not limited by space or anything else you usually would be, so why look local?" said violinist Sophie Armstrong.

"I could collaborate with someone from Japan, doesn’t matter because I’m stuck in my home and they're stuck in their home. So you just start thinking differently.”

The band says they bring a classic and elegant mix of music as a trio that’s bound to captivate audiences, and that’s why they chose to shoot their first music video to together at Porsche Centre Kelowna.

“Well, I think the Porsche brand speaks for itself, obviously. It’s a very high-end vehicle and it sort of speaks to a lifestyle and sort of an expression through mechanics and art, really," said Faragher.

"And that’s where I think that’s where it ties in to what we do. You know, we have a lot of art to share, and we try to do that through an expressive way, and I think that ties in nicely with this kind of car.”

The trio also includes pianist Jessica La of Toronto.

The Bl3nd is expecting their debut music video to launch sometime in February next year, with their tour hopefully kicking off in Kelowna in the spring.

The song was created in collaboration with Rob Wells, a Canadian music producer who's worked with talented artists such as Justin Bieber.
