Environment Canada forecasts warm temperatures for majority of the week

Summer-like temperatures

Get out and enjoy the summer-like weather while you still can

Environment Canada is forecasting warm temperatures for the first half of the week across the Okanagan.

"We are seeing a ridge of high-pressure dominate the southern part of B.C. It is pretty strong in its intensity which is keeping close to summer-like temperatures. Moving into early this week for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we are looking at above seasonal temperatures," said Ken Dosanjh, meteorologist with Environment Canada.

Temperatures are expected to hover in the low-to-mid 20's.

Midway through the week the ridge will break down and move east towards the Prairies.

"A low-pressure system will bring in some more cloud cover moving into Wednesday. More widespread showers are likely so that could be some much-needed relief that the Okanagan is looking for," Dosanjh said.

Dosanjh said September has been "way too dry" for Kelowna.

On average, the first 20 days of September get 23.6 millimetres of rain. This year, the city has received just 3.6 mm, or about 11 per cent of normal.

Monday will see a high of 25 C with mainly sunny conditions.

Tuesday will see sunshine and 24 C.

Wednesday will see a high of 24 C with a mix of sun and cloud.

The rest of the week will cool down quite a bit.

Thursday will reach 19 C with a chance of showers.

Friday and Saturday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 20 C.
