CapriCMW joins with Alberta's Rogers Insurance to become new entity

CapriCMW part of merger

An Okanagan insurance company has joined forces with another Western Canadian provider, and the new operation has a new name.

Okanagan-based CapriCMW and Calgary’s Rogers Insurance have merged to become Acera Insurance, which will have 1,000 employees, more than 50 offices in B.C., Alberta, Ontario and the Yukon, and $1 billion in gross written premium.

The companies have been working together for 20 years, and CapriCMW made a substantial equity investment in Rogers Insurance three years ago to become one of its largest shareholders. CapriCMW was created when Vancouver’s CMW Insurance and Okanagan-based Capri Insurance joined forces on Jan. 1, 2018.

“We will continue focusing on our growth across Canada, leveraging the stability and strength of the deep expertise, insights and experience of both companies,” said Andrew Kemp, who previously led CapriCMW and is now Acera’s chairman and president.

“We are excited for this next chapter as we unite as one company, expanding our capabilities to deliver new products, services and solutions.”
