Items scrubbed due to the cancellation of Monday's city council meeting will be added to Tuesday's agenda

Extra sitting of council

Kelowna city council will get an earlier than usual start to its meeting schedule Tuesday.

Public hearings and Tuesday council meetings typically start at 6 p.m., however, with the cancellation of Monday's regular meeting due to the National Day of Mourning for the late Queen Elizabeth II, a few items were moved to Tuesday afternoon.

Those items include a development permit application for the downtown UBC Okanagan tower, request for a rezoning bylaw for 467 Collett Road and the city's permissive tax exemption bylaw.

They were brought forward due to statutory requirements, and due to the fact there are only two meetings left before voters go to the polls to vote in a new council Oct. 15.

The items will be brought to the table beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The regular council meeting, which will include yet another application from Westcorp for a development permit for its proposed 33-storey downtown hotel, is scheduled to begin at 6.
