Louise Tosoff says a man walked up to her elderly parents' property in Kelowna Tuesday morning, smashed a window, entered the home, and stole a number of valuables.

"He came to the front door, and then walked to the back and knocked and then came to the side and smashed a window to enter the home."

Tosoff says her parents live in Rutland near McCurdy Road.

She says thankfully they weren't home at the time of the break and enter.

"He took my mom's jewellery box with all her jewellery in it. He took some money that my dad had tucked away. He basically went through all their files, and didn't really take anything except there was one file that had an heirloom and $1,000 from my mom's great-granddaughter and he took that."

Tosoff has contacted the RCMP who have started a file.

Home surveillance captured the suspect entering the home.

The man is described as Caucasian with dark hair and a goatee.
