COSAR, police search Okanagan Lake near McKinley Landing after man didn't resurface Friday

Searching for man in lake

UPDATE: 5:42 p.m.

A search for a missing man in Okanagan Lake near McKinley Landing will have to wait.

According to Central Okanagan Search and Rescue search manager Duane Tresnich, the search has been paused for the night.

He says in a written statement that the search for the missing man will continue on the water tomorrow morning.

Police and search and rescue volunteers are back out on Okanagan Lake near McKinley Landing Saturday morning, looking for a man who went overboard and never resurfaced Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the lake near Dewdney Road just after 5 p.m for a report of a man who had entered the water and didn't resurface.

While few details about the incident are known at this time, early reports indicate the man had been on a pontoon boat in the area before entering the water.

Duane Tresnich, search manager with Central Okanagan Search and Rescue, says the man wasn't located during their search Friday evening, and members are back out on the water again Saturday looking for him.

COSAR members are using an underwater camera and sonar to search the lake floor.

Crews have asked boaters to steer clear of the area, so they can safely do their work.
