Former Kelowna Greyhound bus depot being demolished

Bus depot coming down

Another piece of Kelowna history is coming down to make way for progress.

The former Greyhound bus depot at Enterprise Way and Leckie Road is being demolished Wednesday.

The building was the home of Greyhound until they ceased operations in 2018. The building was subsequently purchased by next-door Kelowna Chrysler Jeep Dodge for $5.25 million.

"We’re tearing it down,” said Kelowna Chrysler representative Jarrod Stock, who explained there are three machines on site working on the tear-down.

The two-acre lot wasn't on the market for long, selling just two months after Greyhound shut down on Oct. 31, 2018. The last bus pulled out of Kelowna’s Greyhound station at 5:30 p.m. on Halloween.

The site is located in the heart of Kelowna’s retail area and is surrounded by car dealerships and stores like Walmart, Home Depot, Michael’s and Canadian Tire.
