Motorcycle collides with car on Clifton Rd., rider taken to hospital

Motorcyclist taken to KGH

A motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after a rear-end collision on Tuesday morning.

Les Povarchook tells Castanet he heard a loud crash from inside his home at approximately 8:45 a.m. in the 800-block of Clifton Rd.

“A southbound Subaru was slowing for a herd of deer about to cross the road from a driveway when it was rear-ended by a southbound Moto Guzzi motorcycle. The operator of the Moto Guzzi was ejected and landed in the northbound lanes while the motorcycle proceeded past him and stopped.”

Povarchook says he tended to the injured motorcycle rider until the ambulance arrived on the scene.

“The operator of the Subaru was shaken up but unhurt and the operator of the motorcycle was conscious and complaining of back and hip pain,” Povarchook says.

Clifton Rd. residents say the area is well known as a deer crossing site and Povarchook tells Castanet, “the numbers increase at this time of year with fawns being born. Motorists need to stay alert.”
