MNP Kelowna donates $150,000 to Central Okanagan Foundation

MNP donates $150K

The nine local partners of accounting firm MNP Kelowna are donating $150,000 to the Central Okanagan Foundation for the creation of a community fund.

The contribution will see the local MNP branch donate $50,000 per year for the next three years.

The first $50,000 will direct funding to KCR Community Resources to support the core program at The Family Hub — a one-stop shop and second home for families seeking services in the region.

MNP regional managing partner Trina Warren says supporting the local community is one of MNP’s core values.

“We are pleased to entrust our gift to the Central Okanagan Foundation who will manage our donation over the next three years to KCR Community Resources and the Family Hub,” she said. “We know that our gift will support the important work they do in providing essential services to hundreds of local families so they are connected, healthy and empowered.”

KCR Community Resources board president Laura Thurnheer says the $50,000 will make a big difference to the families they serve. She said one of their recent participants told them the hub is a safe place and that it can be difficult to share their situation with everyone, but that there’s a trusted connection at the Hub allowing them to open up.

“The commitment of the MNP partners allows us to be certain that the Hub is here for the community and for families for the next three years. And it strengthens the base for the innovative programs we offer,” said Thurnheer.

The Central Okanagan Foundation is one of 203 community foundations across Canada that’s dedicated to improving communities. This is done by pooling charitable donations of donors to create endowment funds, using the investment income to make grants to charities.
