A large pool of water surrounds multiple business complexes along Highway 97 in Kelowna after a water main break.

The break happened between 7 and 8 p.m. in the parking lot of the old Costco site.

The Kelowna Fire Department and city crews have been working on site to stop the main and to determine what repairs will be needed.

The Kelowna RCMP are also on the scene securing the area.

At this time it is not known how many businesses have been flooded.

Residents in the Rutland area are also reporting dark brown water coming out of taps.

" I was advised not to drink, even if it's boiled," resident Angela Huber told Castanet.
