Embrace ageing month helps seniors keep a spring in their step

Keeping a youthful attitude

The University of British Columbia Okanagan is helping seniors embrace ageing with a month's worth of activities.

Embrace Aging Month is organized by UBCO’s Institute for Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention in partnership with Interior Savings Credit Union and Interior Health.

One of the key events features a special Zoom meeting with André Picard, health reporter and columnist for The Globe and Mail on March 14.

Picard will share his in-depth insights on post-pandemic health reform and discuss lessons all Canadians can use to help keep a spring in their steps as they get older.

“We are honoured to have André Picard’s insights as part of our Embrace Aging month,” says Dr. Joan Bottorff, professor of nursing and IHLCDP Director. “Mr. Picard is a well-respected journalist who has become a popular advocate and expert about good physical and mental health for all Canadians.”

Embrace Aging is its ninth year and features a long list of events on the website.

Other highlights of the month include free visits to the YMCA, an electric bike demonstration, a games and virtual reality webinar where people can learn about immersive technologies.
