Young musician dies

A Kelowna musician has passed away suddenly at just 25 years old.

Matt Depper was the lead singer in a heavy metal band called Apollyon.

According to an obituary posted on January 17, Depper left behind "a legacy of lovable memories, and those who knew him will miss him greatly."

A GoFundMe has been started to support his partner, Brittney King, who is pregnant.

In a post on Instagram King shared her grief.

"It is with the deepest sorrow I have ever felt, that I must announce the sudden passing of my beloved best friend, lover, and life partner."

"Matt left me one final gift before his passing, and while I am so devastated to have to announce this, this way, Matt and I are expecting our first child together. He was going to be the most incredible father and he was so excited to start that journey together," she said.

The GoFundMe says Depper was a healthcare worker and was in college to become a social worker to help individuals through addiction.

"All of it was to provide for Brittney and his child. I’m fundraising for her and the child she will have to bring into the world unfortunately without her partner. Anything and everything will help in these trying times," George Lindquist said.

A total of $14,855 has been raised to date.
