Kelowna resident Anthony Cesare says he had a special visitor in his backyard Wednesday afternoon around 4 p.m.

Cesare says the bobcat sat around in the yard of his Lower Mission home for several minutes.

"It walked right up to the window of our backdoor and then it just sat on the wall right next to us right by our barbecue," he said.

According to Cesare's neighbours, the bobcat has been lurking around for a few weeks.

The Regional District of the Central Okanagan has been notified.

"They said they will record it and to advise them if it becomes a concern. We do have two little dogs and the cat did stare at our dogs straight in the eye through the window, so we will see what happens. We are being cautious about it," he added.

The Interior Wildlife Rehabilitation Society says bobcats are very common in the Okanagan, especially if there are birds such as domestic chickens or other small pets on the property.

While it may not be as common to see a bobcat, it is important to remember to admire them from afar.
