A Kelowna-based videography agency has teamed up with a country music star.

One Peak Creative and country singer Brett Kissel shot a music video for his new single Make a Life, Not a Living back in February.

The video has won a Canadian Country Music Award for Video of the Year.

One Peak Creative owner Megan Jackson says Kissel reached out through social media

“Funny enough, Brett actually reached out to us on Instagram, of all places. We have been doing some creative video ad work and I guess he saw what we were doing and it inspired him to work together on a video for his new single.”

“For me, it was really cool. I grew up listening to country music and had gone to his concerts in the past so for him to reach out, it was definitely a surprise," she said.

Jackson says the team wanted to play off of the lyrics from the song when focusing on the production of the video.

“The song itself is incredible. It is a great single and it has a really great message so we definitely wanted to create something that had a bit more of a down to earth storyline but really got you thinking"

"What was really interesting is we were able to have his wife and his kids in the video which typically is not always what happens. You are usually outsourcing sectors for that. So we were really fortunate they were able to come out and film with us.”

The music video was shot in Abbotsford on a farm in a two-day span.

“Bringing this entire song and this video and this concept to this great little farm with an incredible crew of people and my wife and my kids to be a part of this it had to be this way because I didn't want to act. I wanted it to be real life,” Brett Kissel told One Peak.
