Local realtor donates 10K to the Central Okanagan Food Bank

A Kelowna realtor has donated $10,000 to help feed families.

Paul Cluff popped into the Central Okanagan Food Bank and knew he wanted to contribute to this season’s food hampers.

"Learning that an estimated 2,200 households are expected to receive Christmas hampers this month, and that the Food Bank is still registering flood evacuees seeking help with food, I knew I had to help," said Cluff.

Food Bank demand has increased 19 per cent since this time last year with over 5,300 people already registered to receive food this December – and that number is expected to rise.

“We are incredible grateful for Paul’s support," said food bank chief development officer Tammie Watson.

"Right now, we are feeding more people than when COVID first started and given everything our community has been through over the past year with forest fires and floods, we are concerned for the challenge and struggles people are facing.”

All individual donations raised for the food bank during the month of December will be matched by 25% by the Thomas Alan Budd Foundation.

"Knowing that there is a place to rely on and receive what you need, represents a philosophy around service that I value, and I feel fortunate to be able to help the Food Bank this season by making a contribution to this honourable cause," said Cliff.

The Central Okanagan Food Bank is a non-for-profit organization providing much needed food and support to families and households in need.
