The much-delayed Chamber Music Kelowna Society season begins this weekend

Chamber music returns

The Gryphon Trio kicks off the long awaited season for the Chamber Music Kelowna Society on Friday, with two performances, at 7:30 p.m. and a newly added matinee at 2:00 p.m.

These will be the first concerts for CMK since it suspended public shows in March of 2020, due to the pandemic.

Under Interior Health restrictions, audiences are still limited to 50% capacity at the Mary Irwin Theatre at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Demand was so high, the evening show sold out quickly, so the matinee was added so more people can hear the internationally acclaimed Canadian piano trio.

They will perform a 75-minute program featuring trios by Beethoven and Brahms.

Single tickets for the matinee are $48.75 (adult) and $15 (youth/student) and are available through the rotary centre website, at the RCA Box Office, or by calling 250-717-5304.

Three more performances are scheduled between February and April 2022 and will include the Banff International String Quartet Competition laureates, the Viano String Quartet.

Sales of subscriptions to the 2021-2022 CMK season have also resumed after they were suspended in September due to pandemic restrictions, and you can get a 20% subscribers’ discount on the 4-concert series by calling the RCA Box Office.
