Rutland Winter Light Up returns after the plug was pulled in 2020

Rutland light up returns

For the first time since 2019, the Rutland Winter Light up, presented by Valley First, will ring in the holiday season, this Sunday, November 28 from 12 p.m.-4:30 p.m. at Rutland Centennial Park.

“We are really excited to be able to bring back this great community event to the Rutland area of our city,” said Christina Ferreira, owner Impact Events and Brand Management.

The event was cancelled in 2020, due to the pandemic.

She notes some changes have been made to ensure it’s a safe outdoor experience for everyone attending. Everyone is asked to follow public health orders and be kind and patient.

One of the new additions is a large Christmas tree that will be lit up Sunday and remain aglow through the holiday season. It’s also the first time the light up is happening at Centennial Park. Previously it was at Roxy Square.

There will be live music, hot chocolate, food trucks and you can even get some holiday shopping done. Local vendors like TT Bakeshop, Salt and Wedge Jewelry and Dashed n Dotted will be set up in the park.

The Kelowna Chiefs will be there, along with Big White’s Loose Moose and Santa.

Photos with Santa is sponsored by TELUS and you do need to preregister for those sessions.
