The second Rutland community clean up took place Saturday and Sunday along Mission Creek.
Kitted out in high visibility vests, with gloves, garbage bags and trash pickers, a group of about 20 volunteers scoured an area along Springfield Rd., Hwy 33, Mills Rd. and Chichester Park.
Kelowna-Lake Country MP Tracy Gray and Kelowna-Lake Country MLA Norm Letnick joined in.
Organizer Christoper Bocskei told Castanet, they found everything from rebar to mattresses, to couches and kitchen cabinets.
“Someone had made sort of a dumping area, it looked like (in the woods in Chichester). Dumped a bunch of household stuff. It looked pretty dangerous. There’s kids playing there all the time and riding trails,” said Bocskei.
He estimates they pulled out about 15 garbage bags of trash on Saturday alone.
