August Motors expansion

August Luxury Motorcars is looking to expand its base of operations at the Airport Business Park.

The automotive dealer, which relocated to the area just north of UBC Okanagan in March of this year, is seeking a site -specific text amendment to allow for automotive sales and service on the property.

The property, accessed off Spectrum Court, is partially developed with one existing building being used as a vehicle showroom.

The application before council would allow for automotive sales, and a proposed vehicle service building.

The proposed two-storey, 20,000 square foot service building would have space for 15 service bays, detailing and car wash bays, an interior display and showroom and lounge/club facility.

Planning staff, in its report to council, is supportive of the application being brought forward.

"The existing luxury car rentals and maintenance business on the property and the proposed addition of sales on the property is considered less intensive than traditional car lots and requires significantly less space and inventory," the report states.

"Because of this the proposed amendment is considered compatible with the existing and surrounding land uses."
