Makeshift memorial pops up where woman’s body was found in Rutland

Memorial at site of body

Flowers, a cross and messages of love and condolences have been left along a sidewalk where a woman’s body was found early Sunday morning.

Kelowna RCMP is treating the death as suspicious but have released very few other details.

The woman hasn’t been publicly identified, but social media posts and a cross left at the scene say she was Krystal Moyan.

Notes posted on a fence right next to the scene, including one that says R.I.P. Cuzzin and another that reads ‘Love you, baby girl, always’.

Police were called to Highway 33 near Nickel Road just after 7 a.m. Sunday morning, after the woman’s body was discovered on the sidewalk.

While they are calling the death suspicious, no cause of death has been released and there’s been no announcement of arrests in the case.

RCMP said Thursday they are still waiting on medical reports to come back and the case has not yet been classified as a homicide.

Police were searching for any surveillance footage from the area. Anyone with information about the woman’s death has been asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
