Olympic gold medalist Kelsey Serwa endorses Liberal candidate Tim Krupa in Kelowna-Lake Country

Serwa endorses Tim Krupa

Olympic gold medalist and Kelowna resident Kelsey Serwa has endorsed Tim Krupa, Liberal candidate in Kelowna-Lake Country.

In a news release, Serwa said she spends a lot of time thinking about the impact of climate change on Kelowna.

“One of the biggest issues facing humanity and something that is near and dear to my heart is climate change,” said Serwa.

“So what does voting for climate look like in the Kelowna-Lake Country area? It looks like Tim Krupa, someone who believes in the negative effects of climate change and how that is related to our community, local businesses, and future tourism. So get out there and vote.”

Krupa said he was “thrilled” with the endorsement.

“Like her, I grew up skiing at Big White. We’re both extremely proud alumni of KSS and UBCO and we’re both passionate about preserving our planet. We know the climate crisis has arrived on our doorsteps in the Okanagan and we want to work together to do something about it," he said.

The federal Liberals have been trying to position themselves as the party with the most credible climate change platform.

“Our generation is depending on this progress moving forward, but it’s all at risk if the Conservatives win,” he said.

Krupa is running up against incumbent Conservative MP Tracy Gray, Brian Rogers of the PPC, Cade Desjarlais of the NDP and Imre Szeman of the Green Party.

Monday is the last day for advance voting prior to the general election on Sept. 20.
