Local firefighters jump into action to stop a wildfire near Beaverdell

Beaverdell wildfire doused

Quick work by the Beaverdell Fire Department helped get a new wildfire under control Saturday night.

The BC Wildfire Service puts the cause of the small blaze near Beaverdell as unknown at this point.

A Facebook post by one of the firefighters said she’s proud to be at the service of others with her crews. Comments from locals thanked them for getting the fire out.

A witness told Castanet the fire broke out around 9 p.m. and was visible about three kilometres above the community, near the old mining area that has been untouched for 50 years.
