Attack in downtown Kelowna alley sends one to hospital

Assault in downtown alley

Kelowna RCMP is investigating an assault with a weapon not far from the Castanet offices.

Castanet's security cameras captured footage of emergency vehicles in the alley behind Lawrence Avenue between Ellis Street and Pandosy Street. An area was cordoned off by crime scene tape Saturday night.

RCMP said they received a report of an assault with a weapon that occurred just before 6:15 p.m., July 24.

One person suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for further assessment.

CCTV also captured what appears to be a woman chasing a man away from the scene, and throwing something at him.

The area was temporarily secured while police officers collected evidence, but has since reopened. The investigation continues.
