Developer donates to help fight fires and keep back country clean & safe

Donation to help fight fires

Kane Blake and his Okanagan Forest Task Force group has received a large donation to help them patrol the Okanagan's back roads and forest roads.

Marc Leger with MacDonald Communities, the developer of Lakestone, in Lake Country says, "they (OFTF) have been very involved in supporting wildfire efforts as they go in and investigate reports of campfires which are clearly not allowed right now. When they find them, THEY PUT THEM OUT!!"

Leger says his group wants to help by forming a sponsorship agreement with OFTF, "Kane is an exceptionally humble guy who genuinely loves the bush and can be found educating people about the do’s and don’ts when interacting with the backcountry."

Leger says MacDonald is donating $10K to Kane and the OFTF, "we presented Kane with a cheque for $10,000 to help him offset the many costs associated to doing his incredible work. We will be following OFTF over the coming months and fully expect to continue supporting them into the future."

Leger says he applauds Blake for making our forests safer, "as a land developer, we so appreciate the work that OFTF does and the positive impact they have that we wanted to get involved somehow. Post wildfire season, I’m looking forward to organizing a day sometime in the fall where a Lakestone crew of residents will be able to participate in a cleanup whenever and wherever Kane needs a hand."
