Murder charge laid in connection to Kelowna homicide

Murder charge approved

A murder charge has been approved against a man in connection to a homicide Sunday night near Reid’s Corner in Kelowna.

Crown prosecutors approved a count of second-degree murder on Tuesday against 40-year-old Lorence Earl Williams. He is accused of taking the life of Thomas Chadwick.

Police were called to a home at Sexsmith Road and Adams Road on Sunday just after 10 p.m. after Chadwick was found dead outside the home.

RCMP immediately launched a manhunt for Williams, who was arrested Monday with the help of a tip from the public.

Williams remains behind bars and is scheduled for a bail hearing in Kelowna on June 8.

RCMP have remained tight-lipped about the motive or what led up to the homicide, but said Williams and Chadwick knew each other.
