Multiple RCMP officers seen taking down a man in Rutland Pet Hospital parking lot

RCMP takedown in Rutland

Multiple RCMP officers were spotted arresting a man in the parking lot of the Rutland Pet Hospital on Sunday evening.

According to a Castanet reader who captured the action on camera, the man was running from the RCMP and was taken down by officers at approximately 5:50 p.m.

“I just happened to hear a lot of sirens so I quickly ran out to my deck and looked down and they already had this guy on the ground,” she says.

Six RCMP vehicles were spotted in the area during the takedown and according to the witness, the man was taken away within minutes.

“One was across the road, one was up on the grass and there were just so many of them,” she says.

“My neighbour said he was putting burgers on his barbecue and he saw the guy booking it and running through the parking lot. He knew he was in trouble and he wasn’t getting away so he just stopped running.”

Kelowna RCMP are currently investigating a shooting that occurred at 6 a.m. after a woman arrived at Kelowna General Hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. The shooting has been linked to the Prior Road South apartment complex in Rutland.

It is not known if this incident is connected to the shooting.

Castanet has reached out to Kelowna RCMP and will update when more information becomes available.
