A woman was shot and seriously injured in Rutland Sunday morning

Police at scene of shooting

UPDATE: 11:35 a.m.

Two police officers remain on scene at the Golden Age Apartments on Prior Road South in Rutland Sunday morning, as several units are cordoned off with police tape.

Earlier Sunday morning, the Kelowna RCMP said a woman arrived at Kelowna General Hospital at about 6 a.m. suffering from a gunshot wound, and the shooting was linked to the Prior Road South apartment complex.

The complex was quiet Sunday morning. Several residents said they didn't hear anything out of the ordinary Sunday morning, but one woman said police and paramedics were also at the complex on Friday night.

Yellow police tape surrounds the front and back of several units in the complex, and two officers are on scene.

In an earlier statement, the RCMP described the victim's condition as "serious." It's unclear if any suspects have been arrested.

Police are investigating a shooting in a Rutland home Sunday morning.

At about 6 a.m. Sunday, the RCMP responded to a call at Kelowna General Hospital, after a woman arrived seeking treatment for a gunshot wound. Police described her injuries as serious.

Officers are now investigating the shooting at a home on the 100 block of Prior Road South in Rutland.

Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy of the Kelowna RCMP says the investigation is still in its early stages, and police will be at the home for some time.

The RCMP is asking anyone witnessed the incident or has any knowledge of the incident to speak to police, by calling 250-762-3300 or anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The incident comes after a separate “police incident” has closed down Highway 97 in West Kelowna, although the details surrounding that incident remain unclear.
