Several police cruisers involved in arrest downtown Kelowna

Kelowna RCMP making an arrest downtown Kelowna on Monday

UPDATE 4:10 p.m.

The Kelowna RCMP declined to comment on the arrest, only saying the arrest was a part of an "ongoing investigation."

"We will provide an update as soon as we are able," said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

ORIGINAL 12:55 p.m.

The Kelowna RCMP made an arrest involving a taxi downtown Kelowna on Monday.

Witnesses say several police cruisers were involved in the arrest shortly after noon near Ellis Street and Doyle Avenue in front of the Innovation Centre.

Photos sent to Castanet appear to show a passenger of the taxi being loaded into an RCMP vehicle and officers searching the rear of the cab.

Castanet will request more information from police.
