Local shares photos of Wood Lake 10 days apart, which are vastly different

Cold snap captured

What a difference ten days can be.

Lindsay Roberts shared photos of Wood Lake and despite the vast difference in the photos, they were only taken ten days apart at the exact same spot.

"I took the first photo on Feb. 5 on a walk to the hand launch at the end of bottom Wood Lake Road, it was cold but clear and sunny," said the Lake Country resident who frequently enjoys walks along the lake with her three kids.

"By Family Day the cold snap had frozen the lake and we, along with other lake country families, were able to enjoy a skate on the lake!"

She says her kids were excited to see how fast the lake could freeze over, noting the cool ice formations near the shore were also a bit hit.

Roberts said they stayed out on the ice for about an hour and a half but talking with other residents she found out many of them stayed out all day.

"Lots of families took advantage of the change in weather. Several pretty exciting hockey games were going on as well."

She loves living close to the water as it's a great outdoor activity she can do during all seasons.

"This is the first year we have skated on the lake and we all hope it becomes a family tradition!"

Roberts wanted to share these photos to show the beauty of ever-changing weather.

"It's really neat to see how fast weather can change the land around us. One day it looks like spring, the next it's a winter wonderland."
