New local tennis organization looking to build year-round indoor courts

Do you want more tennis?

One of Kelowna's newest organizations is looking to promote the growth and development of tennis in the region.

Okanagan Tennis Association wants to enhance the playing experience for every level of tennis player and develop a year-round tennis facility in Kelowna.

“There is already plenty of support and excitement from the tennis community about this project. Now, OKTA is asking the citizens of Kelowna for their support in making our dream a reality," says Laura Norup Boyer, OKTA president.

OKTA says the facility will provide benefits to tennis players, the community and the public at large as it will be used to host events, year-round programming, promotion of community identity, spirit and pride, providing family leisure services, and promoting life long fitness and well being.

"Whether you are a tennis player or not, please visit our website and complete a short survey. Your valuable input will provide us with the information we need to approach the city regarding a possible partnership and facility opportunities. Together, we can make this happen," she adds.

Last year, The Vernon Pickleball Association raised over $1 million for their $1.2 million project that will build a roof and enclosure over their current facility, allowing for the sport to be played year-round.
