Parents have been notified of a 2nd positive test for COVID-19 at Aberdeen Hall

2nd case at Aberdeen Hall

A second member of the Aberdeen Hall Junior School community has tested positive for COVID-19.

Notification of the second positive result was emailed to parents late Sunday night.

The email says the individual is self-isolating at home.

"It is important to note that we believe that neither of the cases this past week were contracted at school, and we are reminded that student-student transmission rates remain very low," the email stated.

"We continue to work closely with Interior Health, and would like to thank them for working non-stop with us throughout the weekend."

School officials further said they are following all established protocols for these circumstances, including:

  • The health authority has completed contact tracing to determine who in the school community was in contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19 while they were potentially infectious;
  • From this process the health authority has determined who in the community was a close contact and required to self-isolate.
  • If you have not been contacted by an Interior Health Authority, or by school communications, it has been determined that your child is not at risk of developing COVID-19.
  • Only the health authority can determine who is a close contact.

They indicate those contacted by IH should follow their advice.

"Please remember the school is required to strictly follow the instructions of the health authority. We are rightly constrained by how much specific information we can release and we thank you for respecting this limitation."

No additional details will be released to ensure personal privacy rights are maintained.
