Police flood Rutland, surround home on Leathead Road

UPDATE 7:35 p.m.

The heavily-armed Southeast District Emergency Response Team has now arrived at the scene.

The owner of the house tells Castanet police are not sure if there is anyone still inside the house or not, but they are being cautious.

The same home was raided by police about three months ago to execute a warrant related to someone who didn’t live at the house, says the homeowner.

The owner couldn’t comment on any alleged criminal activity of the tenants.

The Kelowna RCMP has surrounded a home in Rutland.

Officers have removed multiple people from a home on the 700 block of Leathead Road and are shouting at the residence trying to coax out others believed to be inside.

Residents in the neighbourhood say the home in question is visited often by police.

Leathead Road is closed in the area.
