Family hoping someone can help solve case of disappearing TV

TV 'disappears' on bridge

UPDATE 8:58 a.m.

Multiple people have reached out to Castanet to let us know that they saw the television that allegedly
"disappeared" out of a trailer Thursday afternoon.

One person wanted to let the Sanghas know that, "(the TV) was on the middle of the highway before the bridge about 1:40 p.m."

Another person took the time to say, "the TV was in the middle of the two lanes heading into Kelowna just before the bridge started."

One other Castanet reader indicated they, "saw the TV with the box broken open as I was driving down bridge hill. I almost hit it. I don't see why this is a news story. it's just someone who had an insecure load and deserves a ticket. Could have caused a major accident. Btw, I think that TV is toast."

ORIGINAL 4:00 a.m.

A Kelowna family is hoping for a Christmas miracle after they somehow lost a 58-inch television while crossing the bridge from West Kelowna to Kelowna on Thursday.

Ranjit Sangha tells Castanet that the family saw what they thought was a great deal on televisions advertised at the West Kelowna Superstore. The deal was so good, in fact, that they bought five 58-inch televisions for just under $300 per TV.

This is where the story takes a strange twist.

After loading the TVs into a trailer and securing them with tie-down straps, Sangha says they were across the bridge in Kelowna when they heard someone honking at them,

When they got across the bridge they stopped and checked on their cargo, but found one of the TVs was not there.

"Can you help us? Everybody reads Castanet maybe someone saw something," says Ranjit Sangha.

The family has no explanation for how one of their five TVs could have gone missing between the West Kelowna Superstore where they made the purchase at 12:45 p.m. and the William R. Bennett Bridge at 1:20 p.m. "We didn't stop anywhere and we weren't driving fast. The only odd thing was when the other car honked at us."

The family submitted a photo showing the four remaining TVs still tied down, but the whereabouts of the fifth is a mystery.

If you happened to be on the bridge between 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec 17 and saw what happened Sangha would like you to call 250.575.7780.
