Opposition leader tells Kelowna chamber NDP needs to do more

Liberals want to see plan

The end of September is weighing heavily on the mind of provincial Liberal leader Andrew Wilkinson, and it is not solely due to the off chance B.C. Premier John Horgan will decide to call an election this fall.

Wilkinson is more concerned about what will happen to small businesses when Sept. 30 rolls around, as that is the date taxes will be due to the provincial government following COVID-19 pandemic deferrals.

“It has become very clear that there really is no economic plan coming from the NDP,” Wilkinson said Tuesday during a Zoom presentation to Kelowna Chamber of Commerce members. “They say very loudly in question period that they already have put out their plan. The plan is the health plan, and that’s it. They have left one and a half billion dollars in reserve, but when you think about that … it’s three hundred dollars per person. That’s enough for a grocery bill and a tank of gas."
