Fire on Sunburn Hill

UPDATE: 7:15 a.m.

Six adults and two dogs have been displaced by a house fire this morning in Lake Country.

Fire Chief Steve Windsor says the fire caused extensive damage, and the occupants will be accommodated by emergency social services.

The Lake Country Fire Department has four engines on scene and continues to douse hot spots, says Windsor.

Three cats did not survive the blaze.

UPDATE: 7 a.m.

A fire near the border of Kelowna in Lake Country is confirmed as a house fire.

Neighbours report the blaze is on Teresa Road.

Firefighters and emergency services are on scene.

Flames could be seen pouring from the roof of the home, and thick, black smoke towered above the neighbourhood.

The fire is said to now be contained and is almost out.

It's not yet known what caused the blaze or if anyone was injured in the fire.

A fire is reported this morning in Lake Country.

Witnesses report the blaze in the Sunburn Hill area of the city, near the border of Kelowna.

Details are few at this point, but the fire appears to be on Sherman Drive and appears to be a structure fire.
