Lake Country man faces potential charges in bear macing incident

Man bear sprayed in his car

A 23-year-old man is facing potential charges after a bear macing incident in Lake Country on Saturday.

On July 4, at 10:30 p.m., RCMP received a report of an assault with a weapon after the victim followed a vehicle that he witnessed driving erratically in Lake Country.

The suspect vehicle stopped on Reiswig Road in Lake Country where a man got out, ran over to the victim’s vehicle and sprayed what is believed to be bear mace through the open passenger window.

The vehicle then fled the scene.

“This case highlights the importance of calling police if you think there’s a danger to your community,” says Cpl Jocelyn Noseworthy of the Kelowna RCMP.

“You never know who you’re dealing with or the potential danger you may face.”

Lake Country RCMP arrested a 23-year-old Lake Country man, who has since been released on conditions for a future court date.

The search continues for a second man believed to be involved.
