Crews dealt with three crashes on Hwy 97 in Kelowna

Three crashes in four blocks

UPDATE: 11:20 a.m.

A witness to the Gordon and Harvey crash involving a blue sedan confirmed there was also a female pedestrian injured in the incident.

The woman was waiting to cross the street when the car crashed into the post and hit her, causing her to fly 10 to 15 feet in the air before landing.

"I was a few cars behind, I didn’t see the collision but I saw the car hit the post and hit the pedestrian," says the witness.

"There was a medical person in scrubs who responded right away and was assisting. It was just neat to see that happen. Then the ambulance came and they weren’t moving her, she was conscious but I’m sure there was hip or broken legs and that, because it nailed her in the hip area."

UPDATE 10 a.m.

Emergency crews are also at the scene of a 30-year-old cyclist struck at the intersection of Harvey and Chandler.

A male cyclist was rushed to hospital just before 9:45 a.m. with injuries. Witnesses say the cyclist was not wearing a helmet and was in and out of consciousness. Blood marks the highway where he fell.

Two eastbound lanes of Harvey have been closed by emergency crews and RCMP are holding the scene.

Police could not confirm what vehicle struck the cyclist.

ORIGINAL 9:25 a.m.
