Seniors cheer on staff

Dozens of seniors took to their balconies at a Kelowna retirement home Friday afternoon to show their appreciation for the residence's staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Friday afternoon at 4 p.m., when staff were changing shifts, residents of Regency Retirement Resort stood out on their balconies and clapped their hands, rang bells, and banged their pots and pans. Others honked their vehicle's horns.

Seniors are most at risk from the COVID-19 virus and residents of the retirement home wanted to show their appreciation to the staff that have been working to keep them safe.

“What a way to end a work week!” said Samantha Langer, an employee at Regency Retirement Resort.

Similar shows of support for other healthcare workers and those on the frontlines of the fight against the virus have been making their way around the province in recent weeks.
