Traveller on WestJet flight into Kelowna tests positive for COVID-19

YLW: Passenger tests positive

Another passenger flying into Kelowna International Airport has tested positive for COVID-19.

YLW was advised by WestJet and the Public Health Agency of Canada that a guest who flew on March 17 from Calgary to Kelowna on flight WS 3343 has tested positive for COVID-19.

Guests in the exit row are considered close contacts and may be at risk of exposure. Public health officials recommend that affected individuals self-monitor for 14 days for symptoms of cough, fever or respiratory issues. Guests are advised to contact their primary care provider, or their local public health unit if they are concerned that they may have been exposed to or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

YLW says it is sharing this information to keep the community informed about the possibility of virus transmission. All passengers who have travelled through YLW recently are advised to check and monitor WestJet’s Impacted Flights page to ensure they are aware of possible exposure to COVID-19.

The BC CDC also recently shared an alert for other impacted flights in the BC Interior.
