No additional information released about Tuesday night's killing

Cops tight-lipped on murder

Police are remaining tight lipped about Kelowna's first murder of 2020, which occurred on a quiet Upper Mission block late Tuesday night.

Just before midnight, residents of Trumpeter Court were awakened by loud gunshots. When police arrived, they found a man fatally shot inside a vehicle on the dead-end street.

On Wednesday, police said they had not yet made any arrests, but they believed the shooting had been a targeted killing.

Friday, Kelowna RCMP could not provide an update on their investigation. It's unclear if any suspects have been identified, or who the victim was.

“At this point we are not releasing any further information in regards to this matter as our investigators do not wish to compromise the investigation in any way,” said Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

Police had been looking for surveillance footage from the area Wednesday, and Cpl. Noseworthy said they are still looking to speak with anyone who has information.

Those with information can reach the Kelowna RCMP Serious Crime Unit at 250-762-3300 or CrimeStoppers to remain anonymous at 1-800-222-8477.
