Kelowna follows in footsteps of West Kelowna Party Parades

Kelowna party parades start

Kelowna residents are following in the footsteps of West Kelowna Party Parades by starting their own group, and they are asking for administration support.

The Facebook group Kelowna Party Parades gives kids who have had to cancel their birthday party in light of COVID-19 social distancing rules the opportunity to still celebrate.

Strangers, friends and family drive past the house at a pre-organized time, waving birthday banners, balloons and calling out well-wishes to the birthday child.

It's been a huge hit for parents and children in West Kelowna, including eight-year-old Connor Ransom, who was the recipient of a drive-by birthday party parade on Tuesday.

The Facebook group for Kelowna residents was created on Wednesday, and already has more than 50 members.

For more information or to join the group, visit the Facebook page.
