Fire crews managed to contain a commercial fire to a single unit

Fire in a second floor unit of a commercial building at Enterprise Way and Highway 97 in Kelowna was quickly extinguished before it could spread to adjoining businesses.

The Kelowna Fire Department was dispatched about 7:15 this morning for reports of smoke coming from the multi-unit building.

Crews arriving on scene discovered smoke coming from one of the bay doors caused by a fire on the second floor mezzanine area.

The fire was extinguished before it could spread throughout the building.

There was some smoke and minor structural damage to the affected unit. Smoke did migrate to other units within the complex.

Fire and police investigators are at the scene, however, Platoon Captain John Kelly says the fire appears to be electrical in nature.
