Accused in stabbing of 16-year-old Elijah Beauregard granted bail

Accused in stabbing released

The female accused of last year's fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Elijah Beauregard has been released from custody on bail.

The 18-year-old, who was a youth at the time of the alleged incident and cannot be named, made her first appearance in Kelowna youth court Monday afternoon.

She has now been released into the care of family, determined to be responsible persons under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. There are a number of other release conditions, including avoiding drugs and not possessing weapons. 

The young woman was arrested and charged with a single count of manslaughter on Friday.

It is alleged she stabbed Beauregard downtown Kelowna near the BMO on June 27, 2019. He later succumbed to his injuries, passing away on June 30.

The accused woman returns to court on March 10.
