Kelowna's Mission area could be getting another hotel.
On Monday, city council will consider a rezoning proposal for a number of connected residential properties in the Truswell Road-Martin Road area.
M-K-S Resources wants the land rezoned to 'tourist-commercial', so it can build a 6-storey, 51-unit apartment hotel.
Because of the rezoning request, the proposal would have to go to a public hearing.
The land abuts the north side of Mission Creek, and city planners say the developer is working on ways to guarantee public access to the creek front, including protecting a strip of land for a future extension of the Mission Creek Greenway trail, from Lakeshore Road to Okanagan Lake.
Already in the same general area are the Hotel Eldorado, the Manteo Resort, the Lakeshore Inn, and the close-to-completion Del Sol resort.
There are also two motels located on Truswell Road.
