Big White has cancelled night skiing for Tuesday and Wednesday

Too cold for night skiing

Cold temperatures that have settled across the Okanagan are also causing problems for Big White.

Big White senior vice-president Michael J. Ballingall says night skiing has been cancelled for Tuesday and Wednesday, due to the freezing temperatures.

"We have what we call the after-school program. We have six buses of kids that are scheduled to come up after school Tuesday and Wednesday, and we've cancelled it for this week," says Ballingall.

An Environment Canada extreme cold warning is in effect for much of the B.C. Interior, with forecasters warning bitterly cold Arctic air will stall over the region for several days.

The temperature in Kelowna is expected to dip down to -17 C, but the wind chill is expected to make it feel like -27 C overnight Monday.
