Creative Okanagan looking for musicians to help shape future

Creative Okanagan is asking musicians to get involved in a new advisory panel.

Creative Okanagan is calling all musicians to help shape the future of music in the region, and be a part of developing the region’s first Music Strategy to encourage sustainability in the industry.

Executive director Karma Lacoff says community engagement from a cross-section of expertise levels is a key aspect of the development. 

“We are looking for a diversity of people with a good mix of expertise, perspectives and backgrounds represented in the group. We are hoping those with an interest in seeing the music sector strengthen and grow will respond.”

Hubbub Live’s Kris Hargrave says his team have high expectations for what the panel can achieve collaboratively.

"We are excited to find ways to engage musicians, venue operators, music educators, youth, music producers and other industry professionals. For me, this is about coming together as an industry to increase support to live music.”

The project is expected to span two years and will include a Music Summit in late 2020.
