GoFundMe started for man injured in collision

Man loses eye, needs help

The aunt of a man injured in this past Saturday's Toy Run in Kelowna has started a GoFundMe to help him recover and move on with his life.

Jason Townsend was taking part in the Kelowna Toy Run when the vehicle he was in left the road and crashed. Townsend had to be airlifted to hospital where he underwent surgery but lost his left eye.

Townsend was air lifted out of Grizzly Lake, and in addition to losing his eye, he has a broken nose and shattered orbital bone which required a plate to be surgically implanted so he could be fitted for a glass eye down the road. Townsend will also lose his class 1 licence which means he will need a new job as well.

Townsend's aunt indicates in her post, "he has suffered extensive injuries to his face and has lost his left eye. If anyone can help Jason until he has time to recover, it is greatly appreciated."

Townsend will need time off work to recover and rehabilitate. So far $300 of the $5,000 goal has been raised.
