GoFundMe raising funds for class-action suit is dropped

Class-action dropped

A controversial GoFundMe page started to raise money for a class-action lawsuit against the city of Kelowna has now been abandoned, "due to lack of interest."

The person using the pseudonym, "Buddy Booty" tells Castanet, "the campaign has been stopped due to a lack of interest and all donations have been refunded."

Last Thursday a lawyer named Michael Hansen reached out to Castanet to let us know, "I have been in communication with the individual who started the GoFundMe and I am prepared to vouch for the legitimacy of the campaign."

"The real motivation for setting this up was to raise awareness and to start the dialogue."

So far there have also been no takers on the cities shelter at the base of Knox Mountain. Most residents impacted after being relocated from Leon Ave. have chosen to set up near the curling rink on Recreation Ave.
