Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers Society has produced a 2020 "Scams" Calendar aimed to create awareness on how to recognize the most common scams and where to report it.
The "Scams" Calendar details popular scams and their variations, also it provides valuable information on how to protect yourself and what to do if you are victimized.
Jeff Thomson, a senior RCMP intelligence analyst with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says: “With more than $300 million in reported losses over the past three years, fraud continues to cause significant damage to the financial integrity of Canada."
For a minimum ten dollar donation, the calendars are now available at three Central Okanagan locations: the Crime Stoppers Office in the Kelowna RCMP detachment, the Regional District of Central Okanagan, and Country Pawn, in West Kelowna.
Since 2007, Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers has received more than 28,000 tips and helped Police solve 3,800 cases and make 2800 arrests. Donations assist the Society in raising funds to pay cash rewards up to $2000 to tipsters whose anonymous information leads to an arrest or charges.
